How do you decide when is the right time to return home? How do you apply your international experience in a primarily domestic focused market? Which companies are actively recruiting those with offshore experience and how is that affecting their growth? How can you remain connected internationally from Australia? Our panel of Australia returnees achieved significant career success overseas but like many Australian immigrants, the pull home won out over the many benefits of an expat lifestyle. We take a closer look at what the obstacles, opportunities and challenges are along the yellow brick road and the journey home and how Australia can better leverage its incredibly valuable human resource of internationally connected people from returning exchange students to board level returnees. Stan Grant, SKY NEWS International Editor and anchor of Reporting LIVE with Stan Grant, Hayley Bolding, Young Australian of the Year - Victoria 2013, Joanne Crewes, retired President Global Prestige, Procter and Gamble and Derek Youdale, Board member, Advance joined this panel. The panel was facilitated by Narelle Hooper.
Held at the iconic Sydney Opera House on 14 September, The Advance Global Australian Summit and Awards celebrated international Australians who exhibit remarkable talent, exceptional vision and ambition. The Awards are the only of its kind to recognise the contributions of the one million Australians living abroad, and those who have returned home. More information at www.globalaustralianawards.com.
