Michelle Trainer

Michelle is in her final semester of a Juris Doctor (law) at Murdoch University. She is passionate about using her legal skills to positively impact social justice and human rights in Australia.

During her studies Michelle has won four academic awards and had an essay published in The Western Australian Jurist. She represented Murdoch in a national moot competition and was in the team that won Murdoch’s 2014 International Humanitarian Law Moot in 2014. Michelle’s favourite experiences at law school include studying human rights law in Geneva and assisting with refugee law cases as part of Murdoch’s clinic program at SCALES Community Legal Centre.

Michelle currently works as a Tenant Advocate at a Community Legal Centre. She has also worked as a vacation law clerk at several firms and government agencies. Prior to pursuing her interest in law, Michelle worked in arts management and she continues to love theatre, art and music.

Michelle lived and worked in Malaysian Borneo for six months, and has travelled broadly, especially throughout South East Asia and Europe.
