Louise Evans is the managing editor of national broadsheet newspaper, The Australian.

Based in Sydney, she coordinates the editorial and commercial demands of the print and digital platforms.

She has continually broken new ground in Australian journalism, working across a number of key editorial roles at The Australian and other major media outlets.

She was The Sydney Morning Herald newspaper’s first female sports reporter and also the first female hired by a metropolitan or national newspaper’s sports department in Australia.

She went onto become a foreign correspondent working in London and Beijing for the national wire agency and helped establish and run Australian Associated Press’s first bureau in China.

She was The Australian newspaper’s first female sports editor and was also the first female editor appointed by a metropolitan or national Australian newspaper.
