Mr Walker is an Executive Director at Macquarie Group Limited and Chairman of Macquarie Group of Companies, Korea.

In 2000, Mr Walker established Macquarie’s Korea business, which now comprises thirteen businesses. The Korea business is now one of Macquarie’s most significant international offices, with A$20 billion of total value of the asset, which has been invested in Korea, and over 400 staff. Macquarie is now one of the largest investment banking groups in Korea.

Mr Walker led major infrastructure projects and privatisations globally and was instrumental in raising significant private equity. He also established some of Macquarie’s first overseas raised-and-based investment funds. He is a regular speaker at Korean universities and financial conferences, focusing on leadership in new markets.

Mr Walker was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 1999 for services to economic reform and his contribution to the design of the transportation plan for the Sydney Olympics in 2000. In Korea, he received the President’s citation as an “Excellent Contributor to Foreign Direct Investment Inflow” in 2005.

In 2006, Macquarie received the award for Corporate Social Responsibility from Asia Economic Daily, sponsored by the Financial Supervisory Service in Korea. Macquarie also received “Commendation for Contribution” from the National Assembly Finance Committee. The commendation goes to the company making the biggest contribution to the financial market in Korea, either through performance or corporate social responsibility donations.

Mr Walker was the first foreigner to be appointed as a director of the Korea Securities Dealers Association, which recently became the Korea Financial Investment Association. He is also a member of the International Financial City Advisory Committee in Seoul Metropolitan Government and a member of Invest Korea Advisory Council, which is part of Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA).

Before moving to Korea, Mr Walker was based in Australia as Global Head of Government Business for Macquarie’s Investment Banking Group. Prior to joining Macquarie, Mr Walker was Executive Vice President at Bankers Trust, Australia, after making the transition from the public sector, where he held senior roles in the New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory governments as a Chief Executive of government agencies.
