Mars 2020: The big questions about life and what lies ahead

As the world gets ready to celebrate 50 years since Apollo 11 made history and landed on the Moon, another team, led by a Brisbane-born astrobiologist, gets ready for the big search for life on Mars.

With only one year until the anticipated launch of the Mars 2020 Rover, NASA’s Dr Abigail Allwood and her team of scientists from the Jet Propulsion Lab are preparing robotic explorers for the Red Planet to detect ancient clues to life.

QUT is pleased to invite you to this special event to hear directly from Abigail and her Planetary Instrument for X-Ray Lithochemistry (PIXL) team about the human fascination with space exploration and what the mission hopes to discover from the ‘most complicated instrument ever sent to the surface of another planet’.
