Dr Cecilia Nembou holds a PhD in Operations Research from the University of New South Wales (Australia, 1992), Master of Science in Operations Research from Sussex University (UK, 1978), Postgraduate Diploma in Statistics from Canberra College of Advanced Education (Australia, 1983), and Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Papua New Guinea (PNG, 1975).  She has attended various professional and personal development short courses including marketing management, higher education planning and management, customer service management, and corporate governance.

Currently the Vice President of Divine Word University, she is the resident representative overseeing the development of the Port Moresby Campus. She came to Divine Word University after 2 years at the University of Wollongong in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and before that 25 years at the University of Papua New Guinea. In both these universities Dr Nembou held various academic and managerial positions including Senior Lecturer in Mathematics, Head of Mathematics Department, Executive Dean of School of Natural and Physical Sciences, Pro Vice Chancellor and Acting Vice Chancellor at UPNG, and Academic Registrar and Assistant Professor in Mathematics at University of Wollongong in Dubai.

Dr Nembou has served on various committees and Councils of Universities as well as on Boards of State Statutory Boards, and Boards of non-government organisations.
