Derek Youdale

Derek’s global career from his start at PWC in Sydney, as a Chartered Accountant, has led him on a diverse journey. During 15 years at JP Morgan he opened Technology and Operations hubs for the bank in Glasgow and Hyderabad. He spent seven years in London and eight years in New York in Asset Management, Investment Banking, Treasury, Retail and Corporate sector roles. 

While overseas, Derek held various CFO and COO leadership roles in Technology and Operations teams, supporting end to end business analytics, insight and transformation. Derek helped JP Morgan through seven mergers over a 10 year period, including a intense period of change in New York during the GFC. He delivered customer focused uplift through various roles such as vendor management, portfolio governance and workforce strategies. Risk management, CFO roles, innovation labs and strategic planning are other areas of significant expertise. Over the 15 years, Derek’s experiences enabled him to become a key member of JP Morgan’s executive leadership team.

Derek left his Senior Vice President role at JP Morgan in 2011 to return to Australia to be the COO for Technology for ANZ. He now independently consults to C-level executives in Australia and Asia who are looking to leverage and implement off his global experience.

Derek has been a member of the Advance Board of Directors since 2010. He holds a Bachelor of Accounting from the University of Technology, Sydney and was admitted to the Australia Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1996.
