Everyone has a story to tell and with the ready-availability of the internet in most parts of the world, it’s a no brainer that individuals are turning to digital space to establish their personal-brand presence and reach out to a broader audience.

Alumnus of University of Melbourne and co-founder of Paris-based digital solution company Animate Storiz, Maxence Douet, understands the ecosystem of the digital space. He has embraced emerging trends and offers people a way to see the world with new eyes through digital curation and online videos.

Having studied a Master degree in management in Melbourne, Maxence returned to Paris with fresh ideas and found Animate Storiz – a company that makes video production easy, and provides turnkey solutions for businesses to grow their brand and stand out from the crowd – at their fingertips without the hassle of engaging with complicated technical skills.

Maxence shares with Advance how his journey of inspiration unfolded.

Interview by Tammy Lee, Marketing & Communications Officer, Advance

Could you briefly introduce the concept of Animate Storiz? What’s the biggest feature of your service?

Founded in 2017, Animate Storiz is a  digital agency that helps our clients grow their business by advising and developing their digital projects. Our cross-functional agency helps them to solve complex operational challenges. Our last project was working on a responsive video generator allowing the client to generate custom videos for their social communication needs in a simplified and quicker way. We provide world-class knowledge on motion design production, social networks communication strategies and digital product development.

What’s a typical day at work like for you? What’s your work style?

“Work hard, play hard”. I try to get lunch with my clients to optimise the use of my and their time. Typically I start my day with a call with my partner at 9 a.m. , discussing ongoing projects and sharing work progress. While the mornings are dedicated to complete administrative tasks including mails, finance, account management, etc. ), in the afternoons I focus on production  including prototyping, coding and testing.

Why did you choose to study in Australia? How was the experience?

I wanted to get an international education and experience, and to widen my engineering knowledge received at the Arts et Métiers ParisTech. I had an  unbelievable experience in Melbourne, busying with team projects and surf camps, meeting people from all around the world! Furthermore, I had the opportunity to work as a business analyst for ETF, a subsidiary of EUROVIA (VINCI Group) - one of the world’s leading players in the rail industry. I was responsible for analysing the Australian rail construction market. That gave me  professional work experience in an English speaking country, which was a great foundation for my career.

How has your Australian education experience helped to advance your career?

The experience gave me an international work experience which was essential for me to be able to work for my previous employer Bpifrance – a French investment bank. It also helped me make important business connections through the Australia-France Alumni Network (AFAN), an organisation supported by the Australian Embassy.

How do you want Animate Storiz to grow?

More clients, more projects. If you want a video, logo, graphic creation, website, mobile app, IOT prototype or even digital formations for your teams, feel free to contact us, it will be a pleasure to help you!

What did you miss most about Australia?

The lifestyle. Melbourne was awesome, everything was easily accessible. I lived, worked and partied without leaving the CBD. But the best part was the work culture - for encouraging work-live balance, not working long hours in order to get more time to spend with friends and family.
