Advance Global Australian Awards and Summit

September 13 - 14, Sydney

The Advance Global Australian Awards and Leadership Summit celebrate Australians around the world, who exhibit remarkable talent, exceptional vision and ambition. They are the only awards to recognise the important contributions of the more than one million Australians living abroad, and those who have returned home.

'I always say New York is like travelling the world, except you don't have to go through security'

To celebrate Australia Day 2015, we caught up with Deborra-lee Furness, expatriate Australian, nominee for Australian of the Year and member of the selection panel for the Advance Global Australian Awards. Deborra-lee was awarded NSW Australian of the Year for her work as a child advocate and adoption campaigner. We spoke to Deborra-lee about her work with Adopt Change, why she loves living in New York and what's next for her.
