Ashwini Kumar Giddam

“My goal is to establish a pharmaceutical company and produce medicines at low cost and save people money to help them live better”

Ashwin is in the final semester of a Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Queensland (UQ). He is a highly motivated young scientist with a proven track record of accomplishments in the field of vaccine/drug delivery. 

He has worked on the development of vaccine delivery systems for infectious diseases such as malaria and Group A Streptococcus; and oral solid dosage forms. Prior to PhD at UQ, Ashwin was a research assistant at National University of Singapore and project trainee at RA Chem Pharma Ltd.

He has been a very successful researcher recognised with several publications and awards during his career. In 2014, he received Student Merit award at the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) PSWC. In 2015, he was awarded a research and travel grant from 3M Company along with three month placement. He has received travelship awards from Australasian Pharmaceutical Science Association, Genentech Inc., and American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists. His current research was featured in ‘EurekAlert!’ Science News as a cutting-edge research. He has also served as a Research Student Advisory Group member at UQ.

Ashwin previously completed B Pharm and M Pharm (Pharmaceutics) degrees.
