Since 2005, over 10,000 E3 visas have already been issued – allowing thousands of Australians to take up work in ‘speciality occupations’ across the US. While its introduction has opened up a range of opportunities for Australians, it is in large part under-utilised, with only about 2,000 to 3,000 E3 visas – around a quarter of those available – issued each year.
