Advance Global Australian Professionals (Advance) is a not-for-profit organisation funded in part by the Australian Federal Government.

Why does the Advance collect personal information?
Advance collects personal information, which is used on an ongoing basis, to promote the celebration of emerging thought leaders and outstanding Australians and friends of Advance and to coordinate and promote the Advance Global Australian Awards. Unless required by law, Advance will not use personal information for any other purpose, and will not disclose the information without consent. The information collected is not destroyed, but is stored in a secure manner, for historical and archival use, and in the case of photographs and moving images for ongoing publication and rebroadcast.

What are the main kinds of personal information collected?
 For the promotion of the celebration of the Advance Global Australian Awards:

  • Stakeholder, supporters and event and conference attendees: names, addresses and contact details
  • Photographs and moving images including those taken at public and private events
  • For the coordination and promotion of the Advance Global Australian Awards
  • Nominees: names, addresses, contact details, age, biographical information provided by nominators and referees and obtained through independent research
  • Nominators and referees: names, addresses and contact details
  • Photographs and moving images including those taken at public and private events

Nominees have the right to correct and/or enhance their personal information and to withdraw their nomination from the awards program. If a nominee does not decline the nomination, or is selected as a finalist or award recipient and accepts the honour, this will be deemed as consent to Advance for the use of personal information to promote the attributes of the nominee.

If photographs and moving images constituting personal information have been taken by or on behalf of Advance, Advance, in circumstances where consent has either been formally obtained or implicitly obtained from a person's attendance at an event which is being photographed or recorded, Advance, Advance Sponsors and Partners, and the Australian Federal Government may use the photographs or moving images for purposes associated with promoting the celebration of the Advance Global Australian Awards or to coordinate and promote the Advance Global Australian Awards. People appearing in such photographs or moving images have the right to ask that their image not be used for further promotion. If they do so and further use of their image constitutes use of personal information, Advance will cease using their image as soon as practicable.

To whom is this information made available?
This information may be made available to:

  • Staff, board members, contractors, consultants and media partners.
  • Awards selection panel members around the world.
  • Event and conference, attendees, speakers and sponsors (Event and conference attendee information only).
  • Photographs and moving images are variously intended for broadcast and publication and are therefore available to media, general public as well as suppliers and contractors, partners, and sponsors.
  • Information may be disclosed to service providers, in the case of a business transfer of assets, when required by law, or to protect the rights of Advance and others.
