Google Australia searching for skilled software engineers
Google Australia recently kicked off its UK search for software engineers and product managers to work in the company's Sydney office. As part of the campaign, Google Australia organised a couple of G'Day Google events at Google's London offices, proudly supported by Advance – Global Australians.
Google Australia's Engineering Director, Alan Noble, explained that the Sydney office has been leading the pioneering work in Google's mapping technology and geo-spatial applications for Google, as well as working on other Google products for millions of users worldwide.
Google Maps, Traffic for Google Maps and "Mapplets" (a tools that allows users to layer their own information over Google Maps) were all developed in Sydney, one of Google's global engineering hubs.
"A huge amount of internet and new technologies have geo-spatial applications at their core, and the Sydney office of Google pioneers this technology," Noble said.
"The key technology behind many Google Maps features is developed by our amazingly innovative team in Sydney. The team also works extensively on network infrastructure engineering challenges and the Google Apps suite of online applications.
"In addition to software engineers, Google Australia is also seeking product managers to be responsible for all aspects of developing and releasing new products and features.
"The Google Australia team has also undergone phenomenal growth since it was set up just a few short years ago, and we’re keen to find new people who share our vision. That's why we're here in London looking for Aussie expats."
Google Australia employees can expect generous packages and great working conditions. The Google offices overlook picturesque Darling Harbour in Sydney's CBD.
At the G'Day Google events, the audience was welcomed by The Honorable Richard Alston, Australian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.
