David has a background in Chemical Engineering and oil trading. In 2001 David took up the position of Climate Change Advisor with Shell developing their climate change related acrivities, ranging from the strategic positioning of the Group on the issue to the necessary preparations for facilities to enter the EU Emissions Trading System. he is also a board member of the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA) and is currently Vice Chairman of the association. David has extensive knowledge of energy issues and emissions trading. In early 2006 David compiled the Shell response to the US Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources Questionnaire on Emissions Trading. David has also worked closely with the World Business COuncil for Sustrainable Development and is lead author of its recent publications on climate change.
