Advance members are invited to join the world premiere tour of The Thorn Birds, A Musical. Written by the book’s best selling Australian author Colleen McCullough.
The Thorn Birds has sold over 30 million copies worldwide, and when in the eighties it was turned into a mini-series, it was one of the most widely watched TV dramas ever. Now, 31 years after the publication of the novel, author COLLEEN MCCULLOUGH has turned The Thorn Birds into a stage musical.
Set in the rugged Australian outback three extraordinary generations of the Cleary family live through bitter defeat and magnificent triumph, torn apart by dark passions, and a scandalous family legacy of forbidden love.
The famous role of Father Ralph de Bricassart once held by Richard Chamberlain will be played by Matthew Goodgame, one of the winners of Channel 4’s hit show ‘Musicality’. He will be joined on stage by West End star Helen Anker as Meggie, who’s recent credits include Cats, Fame and Crazy For You.
The production runs from 7 to 11 July, 2009 at the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff.
