The heritage-listed Hepburn Mineral Springs Bathhouse, which dates back to 1895, reopened its doors to customers in September last year after a $10.6 million renovation.
The original Edwardian building now contains more than 30 relaxation, therapy and massage rooms, making in one of the largest spas in the country. A new bathing wing has been built to house the mineral water bathing pools, salt pool, relaxation deck and spas.
Internally, the design is sleek and contemporary throughout both the new wing and heritage building, featuring neutral tones and natural materials such as timber to reflect the local landscape. The revitalised tourism icon is expected to create 60 to 70 new jobs over the next two years and ensure the continued growth of the already strong tourism industry around the Daylesford region.
The Victorian Government contributed $8 million to the redevelopment, with the remaining $2.6 million contributed by Hepburn Shire Council, the Department of Sustainability and Environment, the Victorian Mineral Water Committee, the Sustainable Energy Authority of Victoria and the Federal Government.
