The Northern Territory is a federal territory of Australia. The capital city is Darwin; the other two sizable settlements are Alice Springs (in the desert interior, 1,500 kilometres (930 mi) to the south) and Katherine (near the base of the Top End). Residents of the Northern Territory are often known simply as 'Territorians'.

Looking for an Unforgettable Australian Experience?
The Australian Trade Commission and the Northern Territory Government have come together to offer an unforgettable experience, exploring Australia's cultural jewel - the art of its indigenous people. In May 2007, seven delegates from the United States will be selected to go on a once in a lifetime tour visiting Australia's indigenous lands, the people that live there and the art they produce.

Delegates will travel by 4 wheel drive and light aircraft to visit the remote communities of central Australia, Arnhemland, the Tiwi Islands and the Kimberley regions. Over the fourteen days delegates will visit art centres and galleries with international reputations while also getting to view works of art being created in the very locations that inspired them.

The Australian Trade Commission and the Northern Territory Government are currently seeking delegates who are interested in buying indigenous art & crafts and opinion shapers including collectors and enthusiasts, designers and gallery owners. Click [here...] for more information.

World leading solar technology
Solar power technology developed in the Northern Territory will be used by Australian company Solar Systems in a mega-scale 154MW solar power station connected to the national electricity grid in Victoria. The Power and Water Corporation has been recognised for its leadership in collaborating on early commercial installations of this world-leading technology.  Solar Systems has already established three solar power stations for Ntaria (Hermannsburg), Yuendumu and Lajamanu, with support from Power and Water and the Australian Greenhouse Office.  The environmental benefits from using electricity produced by the solar dishes include reduced diesel costs, reduced noise levels and reduced greenhouse emissions.
