Lynette Wallworth is an Australian artist whose immersive video installations and film works reflect on the connections between people and the natural world. Her work uses immersive environments, interactive technologies with gestural interfaces and narrative long form film to engage with viewers. The environments often rely on activation by the participant/viewer. The activation of the work becomes a metaphor for our connectedness within biological, social and ecological systems. Lynette’s work has shown at the World Economic Forum, Davos, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts NYC, Carriageworks Sydney, the American Museum of Natural History, New York, Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, NSW Art Gallery, the Smithsonian, Royal Observatory Greenwich for the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad; Auckland Triennial; Adelaide Biennial; Samstag Museum, Brighton Festival, Vienna Festival and the Art Gallery South Australia among many others as well as various film festivals including-Sundance Film Festival, London Film Festival, Glasgow Film Festival, Sydney Film Festival, Adelaide Film Festival, Margaret Mead Film Festival.

This interactive work responds to the viewers touch and includes video portraits primarily of political refugees who have experienced extreme acts of trauma and torture.

It has gone on to screen in many other venues and was invited as the first full-dome work to be screened at Sundance. CORAL won the Domefest Award for best Art film 2012. In 2012 Lynette spent time with the remote WA Martu community at the invitation of senior women painters to develop immersive video work on the experience of being in country. In 2013 Lynette took singer Antony with her on a second visit resulting in a new immersive work for the 2014 Adelaide Biennial. She continues to develop work with the Martu painters.

Her first feature documentary TENDER, funded by the HIVE fund for artists, traced the beginnings of a community-led funeral company in Port Kembla. This work was awarded the AACTA award for best television documentary 2015 and the Grand Jury Prize, Pacific International Documentary Festival 2015.
